About Xlifflane
Xlifflane is a small piece of software for the engineer or product owner who localises a software product's own strings in the United States or the United Kingdom. It has two halves. The worksheets are free and work the release's figures on the page from the numbers you type in: the word count, the locales, the memory's match shares, the vendor's rates, the strings in the build and the defects the locale pass found. Xlifflane Pro is the record the catalog becomes: every key with its source text, its translation per locale and its status, the translation memory the next release leverages, the XLIFF handoff generated from the record and read back, every release's leverage sheet and locale test results, and the export the build takes, kept and exportable at any time.
Why this site exists
This site exists because the strings of most software products live in the developers' resource files, the translator's XLIFF folder and a spreadsheet that says which are done, and the moment somebody asks which keys changed since the last handoff, what the German release will cost or why the Japanese build truncates, three sources have to be reconciled from memory. The arithmetic behind a release's cost and a build's defect rate is simple, the record of what was handed off and what came back is what settles the argument, and neither deserves a spreadsheet only one engineer can read.

- Translation memory leverage sheet: Put in the release's word count, the locales, the analysis report's exact and fuzzy match shares and the rate for each, and see the cost per locale and across every locale, what it would cost with no memory, and the leverage the memory delivered.
- Localization testing checklist: Put in the strings in the release, the locales, and the untranslated, truncated, hardcoded and format defects the locale pass found, with the team's ship threshold, and see the defects per locale, the defect rate, the pass share and the fixes owed before the build ships.
What Xlifflane Pro keeps
Upgrading turns the worksheet into the record. The word count becomes a catalog with keys on it; every translation is recorded against its key and locale with a status; the handoff is generated from the record and the translator's file is read back against it; every release's leverage sheet and locale test results file themselves under the release. Export is always available, so the catalog and the memory are yours whether or not you stay.
